This very active sub-committee was set up many years ago to organise social activities for anybody over 55 years of age.
The most exciting and successful part of the year is probably the annual holiday for the group as the need to take people for a trip was identified since many may not have traveled alone. Over the past 29 years, we have covered the four corners of Ireland plus trips to Wales, England and Scotland.
A social morning is held once a month at Conna Social & Daycare Centre, usually the 2nd Monday. This is open to all and a warm welcome awaits you with a cup of tea and a chat, a game of bingo and sometimes a speaker will attend some mornings.
Twice yearly a social evening is also held in the Community Hall which offer live music, a supper and all kinds of ‘craic’. Other groups from surrounding areas are also invited to attend which creates a great network as the Conna group get invited back in return by these other groups.
This sub-committee also provides for two other big occasions in the year: The Senior Citizens Christmas Party and the annual visit of Santa Claus for our younger Conna citizens.
